About us at GH Nation

Great that you found your way here! It’s a bit less great to have an unanswered question, therefor we hope that we can answer it below. Search through the list and if the answer to your question isn’t there, pleas feel free to fill it in the box right above the FAQ.

  • How do I find the Naiton?

Gästrike-Hälsinge nation is a big, yellow house on Trädgårdsgatan 9 in central Uppsala. If you’re new in town – just look for the cathedral and know you’re close. Walk down Biskopsgatan, thereafter Trädgårdsgatan and find us on the right side of the street. If you arrive to an even bigger yellow house, you’ve gone too far.

  • What is ”Ej servering”?

This is a phrase that might end up on your nation card if you graduated from one of Uppsala’s high schools and haven’t reached the age of 20. It might also happen if your course has a place guarantee. It means that you need a ceritifcation of studies from your institution in order to have access to the nations the whole semester.

  • How do I change my address?

In order to get your nation card and Ghasetten if you move – you need to inform us about your new adress. Either change it yourself at www.uppsalastudent.com or contact 1Q.

  • What is a membership and how do I get a nations card?

If you want to become a part of the GH family, there are three ways. The easiest and most fun one is to visit us during inskrivning. There you get all the information you need and your temporary nation card before the real one arrives. You also have the chance to meet our recceförmän and international secretaries who are there just for you. The second way is to register at www.uppsalastudent.com. Keep in mind that if you do this, you may still have to fetch your nation card at GH. The third option is to visit 1Q who can help you with your membership and answer questions. The good thing about 1Q is that he still will be there after sign-ups!

  • What is the easiest way to get involved?

If you want to get more involved in GH, there are many different possiblities! You can take a pub shift, serve pancakes or help in the wardrobe – perfect for making new friends and a little extra money. If that’s not enough for you – you can become a volunteer. We call some of them ”ämbetsman” and others ”klubbverkare”. An ämbetsman can do anything from photographing, writing our paper, looking after our archives or artwork, managing social media or being our song leader. Contact 1Q if you want to know more. A klubbverkare works regularly in for example the pub, bar or pancake bar and receives the magic card called ”KK-kort”. Contact 3Q for more information. You don’t need any earlier experience or semesters of membership to get involved!
