Available Scholarships

 

 

AVAILABLE SCHOLARSHIPS IN THE SPRING SEMESTER OF 2020

 

These are the scholarships that are managed by Gästrike-Hälsinge Nation and are available for its members who study at Uppsala University. Some scholarships have reservations for place of birth, field of study etc. and should only be applied for if you qualify for them. If two or more candidates are deemed to have equivalent merits based on the scholarship criteria, the scholarship board will take into account other information given in the application. A regular scholarship is paid in a deposit of half the annual amount each semester for the duration of the scholarship. All regular scholarships can be prolonged by the holder for as long as the description states. An extra scholarship is a one-time payment of half the annual amount and cannot be prolonged. In addition to the scholarships proclaimed here there are also a number of scholarships that are managed by the university but only are available to members of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation. For more information regarding those scholarships; please visit the university’s web page.

 

In the spring of 2020 the following scholarships are available for international students:

 

Hilding Andreassons à 20 100 SEK

To a member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation in need of financial support. Awarded for one year with the possibility of prolongation for another year.

 

Kurt Belfrages à 16 100 SEK

To a diligent member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation, with precedence to member who graduated from a high school in Söderhamn or “Vasaskolan” in Gävle. Applicants should have a positive interest in “the advancement of International understanding, goodwill and peace through a world of fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service (Rotary Internationals ’four objects’.p.4”. Awarded for one year with the possibility of prolongation for another year.

 

Otto von Friesens extra scholarship á 2 300 SEK

To a member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation in need of financial support and is currently studying Nordic languages. Awarded for one year with the possibility of prolongation for another year up to at total of four years.

 

Folke Hedbloms minne à 5 300 SEK
To a diligent member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation in need of financial support, who studies at Uppsala University. With otherwise equal qualifications, precedence goes to the applicant who has granted the nation the greatest service. Applicant can be awarded the scholarship more than once

 

Karl Jernbergs extra scholarship á 2 200 SEK

To a male member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation without financial support. Precedence is given primarily to applicants who study botany and secondarily for students who study towards a medical degree. Awarded each fall.

 

Klintberg-Oxenstiernas extra scholarship á 8 600 SEK

To a diligent member of Gästrike-Hälsinge Nation in need of financial support. With otherwise equal qualifications precedence is given to applicants from Gävle or who attended Vasaskolan there. Awarded for three years with the possibility of prolongation for another year up. The scholarship can be prolonged more than once.

 

Gotthard Modins à 3 200 SEK

To a diligent member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation who studies medicine. Awarded for one year.

 

Herman Palmgrens à 4 300 SEK

To male member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation, with precedence for applicant who has graduated from a high school in Hudiksvall. Awarded for one year with the possibility of prolongation for another year.

 

Carl Yngve Sahlins extra scholarship á 2 000 kr and additional extra scholarship á 1 300 kr

To a member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation who is in need of financial support. Awarded for two years with the possibility of prolongation for another year.

 

 

 

Grete Solbergs och Torkel Janssons stipendium à 5 100 SEK

To a deserving foreign member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation. Awarded for one year but the full amount is granted directly. Applicant can be awarded the scholarship more than once

 

Nathan Söderbloms minnesfond à 2 600 SEK and an extra scholarship á 1 600 SEK
To a member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation who is in need of financial support and studies theology or comparative religion. Awarded for one year with the possibility of prolongation for one year at a time up to a total of four year.

 

Erik och Oscar von Wolkers a 1 900 SEK

To member of Gästrike-Hälsinge nation who is successfully engaged in philosophical or botanical studies. Precedence goes to applicants born in Forsa or Hanebo parish. Precedence due to birth place is not an obstacle if another member of the nation is deemed more deserving. Awarded for one year and can be prolonged for another year, even after graduation.

Göransson-Sandviken Scholarship Fund for Research and Travel

Annually there is about 2 000 000 SEK available for distributing in the fund for academic research and travel expenses tied to the applicants field of study. Both of these are applied for on a separate form. Both require that the applicant is a Swedish citizen. For further information regarding these scholarships; please read the Swedish version of this proclamation or direct your questions towards the Secretary of Scholarships.

 

Application procedure

All of these scholarships except the ones tied to the Göransson-Sandvikens scholarship fund can be applied for on the same form, but you have to specify which scholarships you are applying for. A confidential declaration of your financial situation and other attachments has to be attached to this application. The last day of application is on the 20th of March 2020

Application with a confidential declaration of your financial situation is handed in to the First Curator at the nation or sent by post to the nation.

 

The board of Scholarships at the nation follows the university’s rules regarding applicants which among other things state that students at a doctoral or researcher level cannot apply for scholarships unless it is clearly defined in the description that they can. As such only the Göransson-Sandviken research and travel scholarships are available for students at this level. For further questions, please contact:
