New at the nation

Below is information for you who is not yet a member of the nation or has recently become a member.

Who can become a member?

GH nation i originally an organisation that acts as a second home to students with origins from Gästrikland and Hälsingland. Today the connection to the ‘’home counties’’ is strong, but not a requirement, and you’re welcome whether you have a connection to the home counties or not. It is, however, mandatory to be a registered student or alumni at Uppsala University or Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet.

How do I become a member?

You can come by the First Qurators office at any point during their office hours to register at the nation. At the beginning of every semester there’s a lot of people who want to register at the nation, och then the nation will have extra times specifically for registration. The hours for registration is 11:00-15:00 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 15:00-19:00 on Tuesday and Thursday. 

It’s also possible to register online at uppsalastudent.com. Important to note is that you can get a lot more information about the nation and all the welcome-activites when you visit the registration at the nation.

Why should I become a member?

When you’re a member of a nation you have the opportunity to go to all nations in Uppsala. To be a member at GH also gives you the opportunity to apply for housing with us, some discounts in the pub and priority when we sell tickets for a gasque, for example. As a member you can also become active at the nation – a really good way of making new friends and to let go of the studies for a while!

What’s important not to miss as a new student (reccentior) at Uppsala University?

It’s not always easy to get to know new people in a new city. For that reason we always arrange different types of events for new students. At the beginning of each semester we also have a Recentiorsreception and a Recentiorsgasque, which are two different types of dinners and parties where new students can meet each others but also get to now the nation better, and all the people who are active at the nation. If you’re interested in singing, board games, beer or parties, for example, you’re sure to find people with similar interests here.
