Scholarships

Each semester, a number of scholarships are made available, managed by GH Nation. This is announced in Ghasetten, on the notice board, and here on the website. After the application period has ended, these are allocated by the Scholarship Committee. The Scholarship Committee consists of nation members elected by the Landskap, as well as the Inspector. In order to be awarded a scholarship, you must submit an application. Special forms are available at GH – from 1Q – or below via the links. Fill out this form carefully. The Scholarship Committee makes its assessment based on the information you provide there.

Things to consider before applying for scholarships

  • Only apply for scholarships you are eligible for.
  • Provide your academic records.

Provide your academic records and also attach a transcript with the total points summarized. Those enrolled in postgraduate studies should briefly explain how far their dissertation work has progressed (in some terms, one may not take any courses but rather write or gather materials). A certificate from the supervisor is also useful. We do not require a research plan; we assume that the feasibility of the project has been professionally assessed at the respective department.

The Scholarship Committee wants to know what you have done in order to assess your study pace, inter alia. Therefore, it is very important that you specify when you started your studies, as well as any interruptions or if you have worked professionally after completing your studies and are now returning to study. Write semesters (spring-97 – autumn-97 work) or dates (do not write "study break 1992 – 97"). Poorly reported time can result in being recorded with too many terms and thus an incorrect study pace.

Each application must be accompanied by a confidential self-declaration – be careful to distinguish study debts from other debts. Both the self-declaration and the application must be signed, and two people must verify the accuracy of your information in the application itself. The Göransson-Sandviken travel scholarship has its own application form, specifically for this scholarship. This scholarship also requires a self-declaration, transcript, and preferably a certificate from the course secretary or supervisor.

The protocols of the Scholarship Committee are posted on the Nation’s notice board. Those awarded a scholarship will receive notification by email at the end of the semester. Note and remember; almost everything you need to know about your scholarship will be in that letter. (It is also helpful if you have saved the Ghasetten where the scholarships were announced.) Each scholarship has an annual amount, which is paid out in two instalments per semester. To receive the funds in semester 2 (and for semesters 3 and 4 for scholarships awarded for two years), you must monitor the scholarship: collect a monitoring form from 1Q and return it completed.

Some scholarships can be renewed; this is called prolongation. It means submitting a new, complete application, which the Scholarship Committee will review before considering other applicants for the scholarship. If your study pace is still good and finances are poor, you may continue receiving the scholarship. Otherwise, you will be assessed along with other applicants. Monitoring and prolongation have the same submission and payout periods as "regular" scholarship applications.

Write clearly and legibly. List the scholarships you are applying for in the order they appear in Ghasetten; do not write out the amounts for the scholarships you are applying for, to make it easier for the scholarship secretary to compile a good summary.

Download application forms from GH or via our website! GH has its own forms (application, self-declaration, and monitoring) for the scholarships managed by GH and announced in Ghasetten.

The scholarships announced in ERGO (and on the university’s notice board) are managed by the university. Application forms are obtained from the scholarship department, and the completed application must also be submitted there.

Monitor the scholarship according to the instructions provided by the university’s scholarship department.

Summary: Var tydlig! Be clear! Fill out all the details. Attach a summarized transcript. Sign and verify. Scholarships in Ghasetten and on GH's website – apply to GH or GH’s scholarship secretary. Scholarships in ERGO – apply to the university’s scholarship department.
